Visualizing Your Path
Vision: My dream career would be to own and operate a company that is dedicated to mental wellness through daily expressive and mindful creative exercises. The platform would be dedicated to providing playful and introspective prompts. The platform would also consist of a community of supportive individuals that inspired creation through a social media type platform, where they can share their work with other creatives. The company is dedicated to teaching “non-creatives'' the value of creating, and that everyone is creative, while also pushing already creatives to enjoy the process of creating and to find deeper value in their work besides monetization. I am currently the co-founder of this company, and we are still in the beta stage of development. My dream is that this company becomes as known and respected as companies such as Headspace. The company would reflect my personal values such as sustainability, mental health, community, inclusiveness and diversity, and accessible education.
Role Model: My role model for this dream is Daniella Pierson. Daniella Pierson is the co-founder of the company, Wondermind. Wondermind is dedicated to mental fitness, giving you the tools and place to work on your mental health on a daily basis. Daniella went to Boston University for business. Her big break was when she founded the company The Newsette, a newsletter for women as a college sophomore. The newsletter now has 500,000 subscribers and 4 million monthly views and is now a multi-million-dollar company. I find Daniella to be inspiring because after reading her interview, she felt very stuck in school. She didn't have the internships or the experience to go into a field, so instead she thought of creating a company for something she was passionate about. She created a multi-million-dollar company with no money or no experience. This is a very similar experience to what I am facing now, and at times I feel like I don’t have the experience to be respected or successful, but she is just an example that nothing is impossible.
Place: Amsterdam. My sister, who is one of the co-founders, lives in Amsterdam. She is surrounded by like-minded creatives from all over the world. The diversity of her environment has allowed her to learn and grow in way’s she didn’t think was possible. Amsterdam is also known for their work life balance, creating a healthier and more sustainable way to live your life.
